Course Development Award

Taiwan Studies Course Development Award

The Taiwan Education & Research Program (TERP) at the George Washington University, through generous support from the Ministry of Education of Taiwan, is pleased to announce its new Taiwan Studies Course Development Award! Applicants must submit completed applications to TERP between October 1 and 31, 2025. We will announce the recipient in December 2025. To receive the award, the recipient must submit final course materials by May 30, 2026.

The Taiwan Studies Course Development Award supports GW faculty and non-GW subject-
matter experts in creating innovative new courses or substantially revising existing courses to
feature a strong Taiwan-focused component. The award aims to expand opportunities for
students and experts alike to engage with Taiwan’s rich history, politics, society, culture, and
global relevance through diverse disciplinary perspectives. By fostering high-quality Taiwan-
related curricula, this award seeks to broaden understanding, stimulate critical inquiry, and
inspire the next generation of scholars and practitioners to engage deeply with Taiwan and its
place in the world.

Proposals are welcome from all fields, including but not limited to political science, history,
literature, anthropology, economics, international relations, arts, and area studies.
Interdisciplinary approaches that situate Taiwan within broader regional and global contexts are
